Alejandro Alvarado Jr.

I’m Alejandro Alvarado Jr, the owner and tattoo artist of Mesa Tattoo Studio.  I grew up in Texas, spending much of my youth around Lake Travis and Fredericksburg. I’ve always had an affinity for art and from a young age I would draw, paint, or mold clay for hours on end. 

This led me to pursue a degree in fashion design at the Krakow School of Fine Arts in Krakow, Poland. It was an amazing opportunity.  While in Europe, I learned about design, studying artists such as Basquiat, Keith Haring, and ancient Mesoamerican sculptors. 

After Poland, I moved to Utah and instantly fell in love with the mountains. I’ve always had a deep reverence for nature and I was able to fully explore that connection hiking through Utah’s beautiful mountain ranges & deserts. 

In Utah, I became friends with the owner of a tattoo studio, Blank Space Gallery, where I would complete my apprenticeship, as I had always loved tattoos and already had plenty of my own.  

I began tattooing part time until early 2024, when I decided to move back to Texas to be closer to family and the culture that is an important part of me. 

Opening a private studio was a huge step and a goal I’m so happy to have achieved.  

At my studio I love connecting with my clients, listening to their stories, and leaving as friends. 

I’m very grateful to be a part of the community in Fredericksburg, as well as  tattooing in downtown Austin at least once a week. 

I look forward to tattooing in different areas across the Americas and the World.
